Cast-a-ways Fishing League brings together anglers of all skill levels in the Brainerd lakes area, united by a passion for targeting bass, walleye, and northern pike and of course some friendly competition.

We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive, fun-loving environment where every catch is celebrated, and every outing is an opportunity to make new memories and friends in our tight knit community!
2026 Season

Fishing With Cast-A-Ways

We fish a total of 10 weeks on Monday nights and 1 optional Monday and 1 required Saturday Morning Tournaments from May through August on lakes within 30 miles of Brainerd Minnesota.

We have a maximum of 15 boats, and welcome all skill levels. Each boat can have up to 3 fishing adults, and as many kids under 16 that you want.

We score a total of 6 fish each week with a limit of 4 of any one species (Bass, Pike, and Walleye). Fish are measured on our website app then released.

Scoring Breakdown

BASS

13-15 = 2 Points
15-17 = 3 Points
17-21 = 5 Points
21+ = 10 Points (Trophy)

Walleye

13-16 = 2 Points
16-20 = 4 Points
20-28 = 5 Points
28+ = 10 Points (Trophy)

Pike

18-22 = 2 Points
22-26 = 3 Points
26-36 = 6 Points
36+ = 10 Points (Trophy)

Muskie*

18-22 = 2 Points
22-26 = 3 Points
26-36 = 6 Points
36-54 = 10 Points
54+ = 15 Points (Trophy)

Rough & SPecies Slam

Rough Fish Limit 1 = 1 Point (Crappie, perch, rock bass, bull head, catfish etc..)
Species Slam = 5 points (Minimum 1 Walleye, 1 Bass and 1 Northern)
1 Point For Showing Up Each Week.
*Muskies can count as a pike for Species Slam purposes.

League Commissioner
Oversees the league. Secures sponsorships, verifies fish, and manges the app and communication updates.

Jacob Russell

Member Relations Coordinator
Builds a strong, positive community within the league, ensuring open lines of communication, and facilitating constructive interactions among members

Shane Schumacher

Sergeant-at-Arms & Treasurer
Enforces rules and acts as a point of contact for any disputes or disagreements. Handles all the league finances.

The Club Photographer is responsible for capturing high-quality images of club events, members, and activities.
