Cast-a-ways Fishing League brings together anglers of all skill levels in the Brainerd lakes area, united by a passion for targeting bass, walleye, and northern pike and of course some friendly competition.

We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive, fun-loving environment where every catch is celebrated, and every outing is an opportunity to make new memories and friends in our tight knit community!
2024 Season

Fishing With Cast-A-Ways

We fish a total of 11 weeks on Monday nights and 1 optional and 1 required Saturday Morning Tournaments from June through August on lakes within 30 miles of Brainerd Minnesota.

We have a maximum of 15 boats, and welcome all skill levels. Each boat can have up to 3 fishing adults, and as many kids under 16 that you want.

We score a total of 6 fish each week with a limit of 4 of any one species (Bass, Pike, and Walleye). Fish are brought in to the landing to be measured. Fish must be alive and legal sized to score!

Scoring Breakdown

BASS

13-15 = 2 Points
15-17 = 3 Points
17-21 = 5 Points
21+ = 10 Points (Trophy)

Walleye

13-16 = 3 Points
16-18 = 4 Points
18-28 = 5 Points
28+ = 10 Points (Trophy)

Pike

18-20 = 2 Points
20-22 = 3 Points
26-36 = 6 Points
36+ = 10 Points (Trophy)

Muskie*

Muskie Under 26 = 2 points
Muskie 26-44 = 6 Points
Muskie 44-54 = 10 points
Muskie 54+ = 15 points (Trophy)

Rough & SPecies Slam

Rough Fish Limit 1 = 1 Point (Crappie, perch, rock bass, bull head, catfish etc..)
Species Slam = 5 points (Minimum 1 Walleye, 1 Bass and 1 Northern)
*Muskies must be released after measuring using the trophy fish verification process

2024 Leadership Team

To keep things running smoothly, we appreciate our leadership team. The leadership team is voted in during the end of the year championship meeting.

Ryan Churchill

League Commissioner
Oversees the league, finances, and secures sponsorships. Assists in scoring fish and enforcing rules.

Shane Schumacher

Sergeant-at-Arms
Enforces rules and acts as a point of contacct for any disputes or disagreements. Also acts as Vice Commissioner and helps with measuring/scoring fish.

Amanda Churchill

Secretary and Scorekeeper
Keeps track of the scoring, communication and pays out the winners each week.

Member Relations Coordinator
Builds a strong, positive community within the league, ensuring open lines of communication, and facilitating constructive interactions among members
